Shaida Akbar (Parent Governor)

My reason to become a Parent Governor was to support the existing staff, Governors and community to enhance the pupils learning and ensure the pupils reach their full potential to become valuable members of the community.

I am a local resident and firmly believe that IQRA will be one of the outstanding schools in slough and to achieve this we need to encourage parents to take a more active role in their children’s education, attendance and social wellbeing.

I was educated at the local Lea schools and then attended Buckinghamshire University where I studied Business Studies obtaining the Higher National Diploma Business and Finance Degree. After this I worked in the NHS for 17 years and took voluntary redundancy last year to enable me to spend more time with my family and help with local community groups.

If you need to contact me I am in the playground daily, or via e-mail on akbarshaida@aol.com and am here to listen and put your views forward to the Governing Body and Senior Leadership Team and to work in conjunction with the Parent Partnership Group, to promote excellence at IQRA.

Term of Office: 2 Years Remaining

Muhammad Munawar (Parent Governor)

Having studied in Karachi I have a BSC degree in Accounts. I have been married for 16 years and have lived in Slough for 14 years. I have recently studied at East Berkshire College where I gained my NVQ Level 2 in plumbing and electronics.

I have seen the journey of IQRA school and fully support the Management Team and staff in the hard work they have done so far. In terms of commitment, I have worked with parents and staff on numerous events such as the Summer Mela, evening events and attended all Headteacher/Parent meetings and support the new strategies in education.

As a Governor, my main aim will be to dedicate my time further to ensure all children are given optimum education and provision, and through this see further positive change to see IQRA as one of the top performing schools in Slough.
