Cllr Kris Hopkins - Profile (cont.)

His achievements over this period included overseeing the delivery of housing stock transfer in Bradford, the creation of the Bradford Care Trust, the establishment and the building of five new children’s homes, as well as a commissioning process for the Council’s community development provision.

Kris was chosen as Deputy Leader of Bradford Council in 2004 and, two years later, was elected Leader of the Council and Leader of the Conservative Group.

He now combines this role with the Chairmanships of Bradford Vision - the Local Strategic Partnership - the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Housing Board and the Leeds City Region Skills and Labour Market Panel.

He also serves a member of the Yorkshire and Humber Assembly Executive, Local Government Yorkshire and Humber Executive, the Association of West Yorkshire Authorities and the Local Government International Bureau’s International Development Consultative Group.

Kris was selected as the Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Keighley and Ilkley in December 2006.

In his spare time, he is a feverishly active walker and runner and a very able photographer with published shots amongst his credits.
