Grant Peggie - Profile (cont.)

Grant has had a varied career in the civil service and in a previous job in the Strategy and Policy Team was responsible for developing a Government wide strategy in supporting small businesses, "Think Small First" and prior to that he worked in the Official Receiver's office in Newcastle-upon-Tyne where he was responsible for investigating business failure.

He spent six weeks in the United States as part of an exchange programme between the Small Business Service and the Small Business Administration and encountered at first hand the delivery of small business support at Federal, State, County and City level. Grant also led the UK delegation in a joint initiative between the UK and Italian Governments on actions to support SMEs at EU level. He has also supported a Mexican State Bank on developing risk capital interventions to support small businesses in Mexico and spent a week on secondment with the Hungarian Government advising on public / private sector partnerships to work with financial markets

Grant is also a business partner in the Young Enterprise programme, which aims to raise the profile of entrepreneurs amongst school children and a school Governor at Silverdale, a state comprehensive in Sheffield.
